Art walk joins ASU Homecoming festivities

The Herberger College began a new ASU homecoming tradition in November 2003 with the first-annual Herberger Art Walk. The arts and crafts show and sale was held during ASU’s Homecoming FestDevil 2003 block party and showcased the art of 35 ASU alumni and graduate students, most from the Herberger College. Work included ceramics, digital art, fiber art, furniture, jewelry, mixed media, paintings, photography, prints, watercolors and women’s accessories.

During the morning, alumna Beth Lederman’s group, Novo Mundo, and salsa dancers from the Department of Dance, as well as other student and alumni performers provided entertainment.

A 3-D poster to commemorate the Art Walk was created by digital artist Charles Kazilek, a Herberger alumnus (‘83) and graduate of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (‘92), and long-time collaborator Gene Valentine. Proceeds from the sale of the 100 prints benefited the Herberger College Alumni chapter scholarship fund.
