statement

David Katzin was awarded the Herberger College of Fine Arts Distinguished Achievement Award. Katzin is one of Herberger College’s most generous and imaginative supporters. His involvement extends in many directions—from endowing the School of Music’s concert hall that bears his father’s name to underwriting the first prize of the international piano competition held at ASU in January 2006.

A member of the School of Music Advisory Board, Katzin was the driving force behind the creation of two of the school’s scholarships: the George Umberson Scholarship and the Gary Mack Memorial Scholarship.

Katzin has underwritten a music education program, which enables ASU graduate students in music to gain valuable teaching experience while sharing their love of music with elementary students in Phoenix Diocesan schools.
