ASU is the only Arizona institution to offer a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and one of two dozen in the U.S. to offer a master’s program. Though no formal rankings exist for such programs, Barbara Crowe, board-certified music therapist and director of the music therapy program since 1981, believes the program is one of the best in the country.

“If the success of our students is any indication, we’re definitely among the leaders in the field. All of our graduates who want jobs are getting jobs,” she said. Music therapy is an established healthcare field that uses music to meet the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.
