Piano Prep/Piano Conservatory Program

The ASU Piano Prep/Piano Conservatory Program offers quality piano instruction to children - elementary through high school - in a creative and highly motivating learning environment. Since its inception in 1988, the program has provided students with opportunities for excellent musical instruction from experienced model teachers and highly selected ASU graduate students. Jan Meyer Thompson, founding director and professor of music, coordinates the program, linking teachers and piano prep students with university piano pedagogy courses in a lab school setting. Piano Prep Program students enjoy a well-planned and varied curriculum emphasizing the development of musicianship skills through individual and group piano study and performance. School of Music piano studios, digital piano labs and recital halls provide the finest facilities for instruction and performance.
