SMALLab on KAET

Arts, Media and Engineering (AME) professor David Birchfield is the project leader of SMALLab , the Situated Multimedia Art Learning Lab. Birchfield and his team are featured on a recent production of Eight/KAET-TV’s ASU Research Review.

SMALLab is permanently installed at Scottsdale’s Coronado High School. Birchfield and his team are collaborating with teachers by creating new learning scenarios and studying their impacts in classroom settings. Students team up with each other in an interactive environment, which uses visual, textual, physical and sonic media that establishes a relationship between physical learning and digital components – the body becomes an interface for learning.
