Undergraduate Advising

Our academic advising team provides you with the knowledge you need to thrive. Our advisors are crossed-trained in all disciplines giving you more experienced insight about pursuing your degree program.

Appointments can be scheduled in advance or students may utilize our walk-in hours.

Thinking of changing your major to Art, Dance, Film, Music or Theatre?

Homework for all advising appointments
The following must be completed before you see an advisor. Bring completed documents with you to your appointment:

  1. A current copy of your DARS report.  How to run a DARS report: herbergercollege.asu.edu/students/graduation.html.

  2.  A written list of questions you need to discuss or your preliminary plan detailing courses you are planning to take next semester. The schedule of classes is now available online.

Walk-in policy
To better address student needs, the Herberger College advising team has implemented the following walk-in policy.

Regular walk-in hours

Monday 9-11:30 a.m., Tuesday 1-3 p.m., Friday 9:00-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
 

There will be no walk-in advising hours when classes are not in session or during winter and summer sessions.

Extended Walk-in Hours are held during peak advising times during the semester.
The advising team will hold extended walk-in hours Feb. 25-29 and March 3-7 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

No scheduled appointments will be available during these weeks, but students may see an advisor on a walk-in basis.

Students may schedule appointments beginning January 22.

  • Extended walk-in hours are held during the first week of the fall and spring semester, during the regular drop/add period.
  • Additional extended walk-in hours will be announced through the Blackboard information sites.
General policies
The following issues are NOT eligible for walk-in service, and are by appointment only, due to time constraints.

  1. Students interested in double majoring
  2. New students
  3. Transfer students
  4. Students in need of long-term career or academic planning
  5. Students wanting to change majors
  6. DOGS

Only issues that can be resolved in less than 15 minutes are appropriate for walk-in service.

Disclaimer for all students utilizing walk-in hours
In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, etc., walk-in hours may be canceled without advance notice.
