Lucas Mariacher Finds Time for Film and Wrestling
Someday I want to be a movie producer in Hollywood. ASU gave me a taste of that dream, when I attended a casting call advertised in the student newspaper and was asked to play a role in MTV's Next.

Although I was in front of the camera rather than behind it, I was able to learn so much about the film making business. The experience further justified my decision to study film. I realized how much time and effort it takes to create something people are willing to watch.  There is no way I would have had this opportunity living back home in Buffalo, New York.

ASU is full of opportunities. I am proud to be part of the Sun Devil family. Being an out-of-state student, a wrestler and a film and media production major, I need to adapt to different environments effortlessly. No where else in the country could I go to college with 60,000 students and fit in so easily. The ASU community takes a big college atmosphere and makes it feel small - makes it a place where I can get all the individual attention I need to succeed.

Juggling film classes and athletics can be difficult, but I am lucky to be able to pursue both. Relentlessly pursuing one's dream is all that can be asked of an individual, which is the motto I follow. Whether it is athletics or school, it is most important for me to strive to improve. ASU and the Herberger College give me the resources to grow, learn and advance.

Within the Herberger College, I have access to state-of-the-art film equipment and amazing faculty to teach me how to utilize my skills. My professors work in the field as well as teach, so when it comes time for a job, they will be extremely useful in helping me find the best options for me.
