The School of Music administers the following scholarships, fellowships and awards and are only available to Music majors.

Anna Rosenzweig Memorial String /Cello Fellowship
String major (preference cello) planning performance career; upper class
or graduate student; preference female candidate; minimum 3.0 GPA; may
demonstrate financial need.
Arizona State Music Teachers Association Scholarship
Arizona resident, undergraduate piano student.
Arthur E. Harvey Memorial Scholarship
Undergraduate music education major with emphasis on piano.
Aspiring Professional Musicians Fund
Full- or part-time students at any level in the School of Music or the
Herberger College of the Arts community school. Students to be residents
of Arizona, with a preference for students who have participated in community
music lessons through Rosie’s House in Phoenix or the Arizona
School for the Arts. Financial need a factor.
Bertha Autenrieth Memorial Voice Scholarship
Outstanding full-time voice student.
Barbara Bluhm Memorial Scholarship
Full-time undergraduate voice student.
Barbara V. Long Memorial Opera Scholarship/Fellowship
Student performing in Lyric Opera Theatre productions.
Bruce Munson Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship
Guitar student enrolled in the School of Music.
Choral Music Scholarship
Choral major selected by faculty member.
Curt Sather Organ Teaching Assistantship in Organ
Graduate degree candidate in organ program, renewable.
Doc Severinsen Scholarship in Music
Full-time brass student.
Eirene Peggy Lamb Fellowship in Music
Gifted graduate student with 3.0 minimum GPA and financial need.
Etta & Norman Mendelsohn Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship
Award based on academic record and service to School of Music.
Evelyn Eberhard Memorial Fellowship in Voice
Graduate student in applied vocal performance, in good standing, demonstrate
professional promise. Award to be used for tuition or university fees.
The Family Ball Foundation (Arizona Community
Foundation)
Recipient decided by Arizona Community Foundation and the Ball Family.
Frank & Marion Putz Memorial Fellowship
Award for completion of degree program for (in order of preference)
doctoral student in residency, other doctoral students, or master's
student in general music studies.
Friends of Music Scholarship/Fellowship
For undergraduate or graduate study.
Gary Mack Music Scholarship/Fellowship
Full-time student at undergraduate or graduate level.
General Music Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate study.
George Umberson Choral Scholarship
Undergraduate choral music education major with outstanding promise
as choral teacher/conductor; minimum 3.0 GPA in major; award made by
consensus of School of Music choral faculty.
Gladys O’Donnell String Fellowship
For M.M. or D.M.A. string performance major, 3.0 GPA, financial need not
a factor.
Harriet L. Freye Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship
For undergraduate or graduate study. Scholarship given at discretion
of School of Music director.
Herbert Smith Family Fellowship in Music
To support a graduate fellowship in Music. Fellowship recipients should
be full-time graduate students in the Herberger College of the Arts
and in good academic standing at the university. Financial need is not
a consideration.
James S. Ruccolo Memorial Piano Fellowship
Graduate tuition award for student studying piano and composition or
piano and jazz.
The Jazzbird Foundation Scholarship
Full-time Music major with 2.5 minimum GPA actively participating in
Jazz Studies program.
Jennifer Lowy Dock Fellowship in Music
For out-of-state full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in woodwind
performance, with a preference for students studying flute. GPA 3.0.
Jennison Choral Music Award
Entering full-time undergraduate student participating in choral ensemble;
minimum 2.75 high school GPA
Kathy Brown-Paliganoff Memorial Scholarship Full
time Music Education
Undergraduate with 2.0 minimum GPA; Arizona residency required with
preference for Kennedy School graduates (Creighton School District);
criteria includes talent, professional promise and financial need.
Leslie & Lloyd R. Bell Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship
in Voice
Undergraduate or graduate voice student with career potential and financial
need.
Louise Lincoln Kerr Composition Award
Undergraduate senior majoring in composition.
Louise Lincoln Kerr Music Scholarship/Fellowship
Full-time undergraduate or graduate Music student.
Marcia P. Cummins Parker Scholarship/Fellowship
One or more awards for undergraduate organ majors or organ related studies;
demonstrated musical achievement; financial need a preference.
Mervin Britton Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship
ASU percussion major with 3.0 GPA chosen by the percussion program.
No financial or geographic requirements apply.
Miriam L. Wolfe Music Scholarship/Fellowship
Voice student with outstanding ability in classical repertoire.
Newmark Family Voice Scholarship/Fellowship
Upper class or graduate student with a 3.0 minimum GPA majoring in voice.
Financial need and talent are primary considerations.
New Times Music Scholarship
Award for upper class performance major, Arizona resident.
Patricia B. Keating Scholarship/Fellowship
Award for accompanying student.
Phoenix Symphony Guild Scholarship/Fellowship
String player involved in orchestra or chamber music studies.
Presser Foundation
Graduating senior; performance excellence.
Rafael Méndez Scholarship in Brass
Full-time School of Music student on main campus; brass instrumentalist;
undergraduate or graduate student. Financial need not a consideration.
Renewable, but recipient must re-apply.
Richard and Marilyn Wurzburger String Award
Award for graduate string major (preference viola) with minimum 3.0
GPA and planning a career in performance.
Richard and Marilyn Wurzburger Organ Fellowship
Graduate award for organ major planning career in performance.
Robert Clark Organ Endowment
Fund used for general support of organ program, including scholarships
if necessary.
Robert “Coach” Fleming Scholarship
Endowment
Scholarship fund for instrumentalists/marching band students.
Robert & Betty Isern Howery Scholarship
Upper class full-time music therapy major.
Special Talent Awards
For graduate and undergraduate students enrolled full time as music
majors. Based upon music talent audition for faculty committee.
Sun Angel Scholarship in Music
Available on odd numbered years; undergraduate Music major; Arizona resident only; minimum GPA 3.0; financial need.
Sun Devil Marching Band Scholarship
Instrumentalist performing with Sun Devil Marching Band.
William S. English Memorial Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate students majoring in music education;
3.0 minimum GPA required; selection made by Committee of Music Education
faculty with chair appointed by director of School of Music.
William H. Hubbard Music Endowment
Established by Jonathan Hubbard to honor and to leave a lasting legacy in the name of his father, William H. Hubbard. Offered to full-time Music students with a minimum 3.0 GPA, community service desired but not mandatory.
